Insurance renewal preparation

Before you renew,
take a clearer look.

Use your next renewal as a starting point for a more informed conversation about what has changed and what needs attention.

Prepare the conversation, not just the paperwork.

A renewal is an opportunity to bring your current circumstances and your insurance questions together. The useful starting point is not simply whether a premium has changed, but what information and terms you need to understand before making a decision.

Renewal preparation is about organizing relevant facts, identifying questions and knowing which dates need your attention. It does not renew, replace or cancel a policy on your behalf.

Four things to organize.

What has changed: your household, property, vehicles, business activity or other relevant circumstances.

What you have received: the renewal offer, notices, revised terms and any supporting information.

What needs clarification: limits, deductibles, exclusions, listed details or questions left over from your current policy.

What happens next: the applicable dates, the party responsible for each action and the confirmation you need.

Give yourself a clear starting point.

Keep renewal materials together and note the dates shown on the actual documents. Describe your question in a short inquiry and mention any approaching deadline. Consultation availability, scope and any fees must be agreed before work begins.

Do not assume that submitting an inquiry pauses a notice period or completes a renewal. Follow the instructions from your insurer or authorized representative, and obtain confirmation of any transaction through the appropriate channel.

Already have questions about the current policy?

A policy review conversation may be a useful starting point. You can also use our preparation checklist to organize the issues you would like to discuss.

Do not cancel an existing policy on the assumption that a replacement is effective. Confirm coverage and effective dates directly with the appropriately authorized insurer or representative.
